Reporting to the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Programs, the Associate Director will develop and execute innovative programming for New School Alumni. S/he will identify and implement effective strategies for engaging alumni in volunteer, leadership, and mentoring opportunities that strengthen their relationships with the university and create meaningful connections between current and prospective students, and alumni. S/he will also serve as a liaison for university partners ensuring stakeholders have accurate information and regular updates on Alumni Engagement activities.
Lead the development and implementation of a robust alumni engagement program, including a master calendar of networking and social events, on-campus volunteer activities, as well as international, regional, and corporate cohort events designed to foster pride and connect alumni with other alumni and current students.
Manage the university's informal mentoring program using the Newconnect platform, including driving alumni and student participation, tracking connections, meetings, mentorship ratings, and KPI outcomes. Collaborate with Career Services, Student Advising, and other academic units to recruit students for the platform, regularly suggesting connections between alumni and students to maintain activity.
Build cohorts within a diverse population of alumni based on interest, geography, or industry by identifying and recruiting alumni volunteers to lead these affinity groups and expand them through peer‐to‐peer outreach. Maintain a portfolio of alumni volunteers and provide regular 1:1 contact to energize their efforts and support their activity.
Forge strong and collaborative relationships with campus partners to maximize alumni and student engagement opportunities and outreach. Maintain strong communication links to ensure a coordinated approach to bringing alumni to the classroom and other speaking opportunities such as career panels and admitted student days.
Oversee and ensure the accurate reporting of engagement KPIs working with the Alumni Engagement Manager and Advancement Services, and report on the success of alumni engagement programs through regular analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from post-event surveys, mentorship ratings, and other sources of data.
Supervise and manage the Alumni Engagement Manager by providing clear direction and developing key objectives and goals for the role.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Five to seven years of relevant experience in alumni relations, development, membership, public relations or marketing within a complex organization
Track record managing successful large-scale engagement events and high-level volunteers
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely and effectively with a variety of constituencies including diverse alumni populations, students, faculty, and university leadership
Experience with MS Office Suite and relational databases such as Banner
