Kentucky Electric Cooperatives provides several services for the 24 state wide, consumer-owned electric distribution utilities in the state, as well as the two "generation and transmission" cooperatives that produce power for those distribution co-ops. Those services include representation before the Legislature, Congress, and regulatory bodies; safety training; coordination of management training; and public relations support including publication of Kentucky Living magazine. Kentucky Electric Cooperatives is governed by a board consisting of one manager and one director from each of its 26 member systems, and is headquartered in Louisville.
Our organization is looking for a motivated individual to fill our role as the Safety & Loss Prevention Instructor to service all Kentucky Electric Cooperative’s lines of business. This vital role will be responsible for facilitating Kentucky Electric Cooperatives with training and safety protocols. Also, must continue to maintain and learn new regulatory requirements for safety in areas such as; Rubber Gloving, Hot Sticking, URD and Overhead Line construction and maintenance. This position will be traveling much of the time throughout the state and participate in various local, state and national conferences. This role may also be involved with independent incident investigations and other emergency situations.
Maintain current knowledge and skills in safety and relates to Kentucky Electric Cooperatives and presents this information to the co-ops in a timely fashion to assist them in their Safety and Loss Prevention efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates and assists with instruction Safety & Loss Prevention meetings each month for KAEC Member Systems.
Consults with cooperatives in solutions to problems concerning Safety & Loss Prevention matters.
Assists cooperatives with instruction in areas such as Rubber Gloving, Hot Sticking, URD and Overhead Line Construction and Maintenance, etc.
Assembles and reviews instructional needs and regulatory requirements and reports on same to cooperatives.
Conducts Safety Demonstrations in conjunction with co-op Annual Meetings, School Activities, Volunteer Fire Departments and other organizations as appropriate.
Reviews information contained in accident reports.
Assists with the direction of work crews in emergency conditions.
Organize and coordinate workshops and conferences as directed.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Post High School and Continuing Education, with at least 5 years work experience in electric utility field.
Extensive Intra-State overnight travel.
Excellent communication skills.
Training or Transmission experience preferred.
Knowledge of Electrical Theory and Application.
Working knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), related Government Regulations and appropriate standards.
