Real Estate Asia-Pacific was established in 2006 and creates value for our clients through the selective acquisition and asset management of real estate properties and the management of joint ventures with operators and developers across the Asia-Pacific private real estate markets. Real Estate Asia-Pacific has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, and Shanghai.
The Korea - Head of Acquisitions role will help formulate and oversee the execution of investment strategies designed to optimize the risk-adjusted return on institutional capital deployed in South Korea, while operating at the highest level of governance, ethics, and fiduciary responsibility. The role will also involve client interaction, with both international investors and domestic investors.
This position is a key senior role within the Asia-Pacific team and an opportunity for the right business leader to utilize the combined foundations of a strong global brand name, corporate infrastructure, 47 years of global history in real assets investment strategies, and the resources of one of the most respected and successful investment and corporate banks to create a strong investment platform. Key Responsibilities
Management · Work closely with the Real Estate Asia Pacific leadership team, internal and external stakeholders within and outside of South Korea · Over time, contribute to the build-out of a successful platform focused on Korean real estate markets
Investment and Acquisition · Leading the Korea team in the sourcing, underwriting, structuring, closing, and management of deals · Managing current/future projects through the investment process and to exit · Leveraging a broad network of relationships · Establish key business partnerships
Portfolio and Risk Management · Drive capital deployment in line with investor expectations · Ensure best risk adjusted returns from a balanced portfolio of investments · Manage risk exposures, government relations and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory environment
Client Servicing · Assist in continuous growth of the platform · Liaise effectively with the business development and client teams · Manage client communications and expectations for Korea investments · Potentially leverage domestic relationships for developing client solution
Minimum Qualifications · Significant investment deal-making, capital deployment, execution, and leadership experience · Minimum 15 years of real estate investment experience with reputed and known real estate companies · Fluent in Korean and English, and highly conversant with Korean culture and business practices · International work exposure · MBA from a recognized institution or other equivalent qualification a plus Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies · Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Korea real estate market · International exposure, integrity and judgment: seniority, global career and credibility to protect J.P. Morgan interests in Korea and to represent the Korea group and strategy in front of global clients and external stakeholders. Personal and professional integrity in representing the company with investors, lenders, government institutions, regulatory authorities, etc. · Proven real estate experience: prior experience in deploying capital, closing deals, and managing and exiting development deals. Candidates must have track records in full cycles of investment with appropriate level of return to investors · Ability to build relationships: must be able to establish and manage key relationships with all stakeholders and partners including government, state enterprises, capital and financial sources, key service providers and team members · Business planning and execution drive: ability to formulate strategy and business plan for Korea and to implement this plan · Leadership: recognized for their energy, leadership, entrepreneurial skills, ability to coach and motivate team members · Strong communicator and good listener: an outstanding oral and written communicator who can deliver concise and logical rationale and recommendations · Other: a decision maker who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is well-versed in real estate investment and knows how to work within a global matrix management organization
