Head Women's Soccer Coach/Admissions Counselor - WVU Beckley 11944
West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses, is seeking a self-motivated and Head Women's Soccer Coach and Admissions Counselor for the new WVU Beckley campus. This position will report to the WVU Tech Director of Athletics and Dean of Enrollment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching and managing all aspects associated with a collegiate Women's Soccer program and assist in campus recruitment.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Head Women's Soccer Coach (75%)
Manage all aspects of a NAIA Division I Women's Soccer Program.
Prepare NAIA, institutional scholarship award forms and submit signed contracts for scholarships.
Evaluate talent in current and prospective student-athletes.
Organize and conduct a strength conditioning program.
Coordinate team meetings, athletic study halls for Women's Soccer athletes, strength and conditioning work outs, etc.
Monitor the academic progress, retention rates and graduation rates.
Recruit quality student athletes that meet the criteria established by the Athletic Administration.
Admissions Counselor (25%)
Counsel students on the benefits of higher education and characteristics of academic programs offered by WVU Tech. Operates a motor vehicle to travel to assigned areas to counsel students on the issues of academic programs, admissions requirements, housing, financial aid and student life at WVU Tech.
Operate a motor vehicle to travel to assigned areas to consult with high school and vocational/technical center principals, guidance counselors and teachers to obtain referrals of students and review the students' test scores and high school classes.
Will attend high school fairs, college information nights, and similar functions, and transports materials from vehicle to appropriate location and sets up recruiting displays.
Interpret admission requirements and procedures outlined in the WVU Tech catalog to students, teachers, counselors, and others as required. Assist prospective students and families in understanding financial aid regulations and requirements.
Aggressively follow-up with students, parents, and high school and vocational/technical center counselors from initial contact through enrollment to assure students have every opportunity to enroll.
Manage written, electronic, and telecounseling outreach efforts with prospective students in recruitment territory. Respond to a variety of email, phone, and written communications from prospective and admitted students.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with high school guidance counselors. Coordinate mailings to high school guidance counselors.
Coordinate, participate, and/or manage special programs as assigned to increase recruitment within assigned territory. These may include, but are not limited to, receptions, counselor meetings, and open houses.
Coordinate arrangements for prospective students to visit the campus and conduct campus tours.
Execute special recruiting projects, as needed.
Assist with on-campus recruiting events, including but not limited to open houses, Student Advising and Registration events, Student Services Days, and or other recruiting events.
Assist with office duties, including data entry of contact cards, procession of applications and transcripts, and preparation of mailings.

Bachelor's degree required in Education, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing, Counseling or a related field
Master's degree is preferred
Successful Soccer Coaching experience. (high school or collegiate preferred) - 1 year
Conducting camps/clinics. - 1 year
Recruiting experience. - 1 year
Have the ability to work collaboratively and positively with administration, athletic department staff, faculty, students, Director of Athletics and Dean of Enrollment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent computer skill
Valid driver's license required to transport student-athletes and recruit.
