EXECUTIVE EDITOR, MIT HORIZON , Open Learning , This is a temporary, one-year position, renewable on an annual basis. to lead a team of researchers, editors, writers, and others to develop educational content on a variety of emerging technology topics while ensuring a consistent style, voice, and quality. Will independently identify, approach, convince, and manage relationships with senior executives and researchers who will serve as subject matter experts; improve content based on input from customers; and interface with all major business functions within the MIT Horizon including marketing, sales, and product development. Responsibilities include working with the senior director and leading the writers to determine which articles, illustrations, videos, podcasts, and other content formats are needed to explain various emerging technologies to working professionals; guiding the writers' reporting and research; editing copy to ensure that the articles are clear, compelling, and useful for a non-technical audience; coordinating with the senior director, art directors, copy editors, fact-checkers, and other production editors on a publishing schedule; coordinating updates to articles as technological developments warrant; building and retaining a high-quality team of writers, researchers, and editors; improving various content development workflows; and participating as an active member of the MIT Horizon core team including close involvement in all cross-initiative decisions, budgeting and planning tasks.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (advanced degree, MFA, M.S., MBA, preferred) in a related field; at least five years' relevant experience as an editor and editorial manager; excellent editing skills for digital web content; proven ability to build and manage a team of writers, researchers, and editors that consistently produce high quality content; and ability to work independently in an unstructured, start-up environment.
