Communications Leader (1901530) – Southfield, MI
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to be part of the Coatings North American Leadership and Global Coatings Communications teams. Key objectives for this role are to increase awareness and enhance the reputation of the BASF Coatings Solution business in our target markets and also to develop and implement communication programs to support employee motivation and engagement. You will have significant responsibility for supporting multiple segments of the business in achieving sales and marketing goals through the planning, execution and measurement of external and internal communications programs in North America.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Coatings Americas, you will display creativity and excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills developed over time during your experience in business, marketing, marketing communications and/or public relations roles in a corporate environment. This experience will shape the thinking of target audiences in ways that successfully support the communication needs of the BASF Coatings business, specifically with regards to profitable sales growth and employee engagement. Your fluency in Spanish, German, and/or French language skills are preferred for this role.

Working as a role model and enabling the development of competencies in others that are needed to implement BASF's strategy, you will s erve as a member of the Regional Business Unit and, separately, the Global Coatings Communications Leadership Teams.
Leveraging your education in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field combined with your proven experience in a combination of business, marketing, marketing communications and/or public relations roles in a corporate environment or public relations agency, you will develop strategic communications plans in close cooperation with regional and global marketing management to influence external audiences and achieve business goals.
Demonstrating your exceptional written, verbal, analytic and presentation skills, you will plan and execute communication activities such as development of key message, talking points and Q&As, Public Relations, advertising, social media, literature and marketing tools, trade shows, customer events, and managing communications budgets.
Any experience you may have in managing communications for trade shows & events and outside agencies and vendors will be a valued asset as you manage external relations with trade media relations in order to develop and distribute news releases, prepare executives and subject matter experts for interviews.
As a self-starter, you will leverage a broad understanding of Social Media tactics and strategies.
Taking initiative and utilizing your strong project management skills, you will deploy Digital Marketing Excellence (DME) strategies and activities in support of business goals, including marketing automation and content marketing.
Your demonstrated ability to create effective communications will be evident as you work with senior executives to develop internal communications messages to motivate employee engagement and commitment.
Exercising your ability to work effectively under pressure and a heavy workload, you will manage issue and crisis communications.
Successfully engaging across the organization, you will work in collaboration with global communication colleagues to adapt and localize global communication strategies. You will also collaborate with global and regional corporate communications to support One Voice communications, the "one business, one team
