Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Manager will be responsible for developing relationships with Columbia's undergraduate and graduate schools (excluding Columbia College and Columbia Engineering) in order to support and facilitate all constituency needs related to the University visit experience. The Manager will also promote Columbia University as a partner for early college awareness by cultivating relationships with and planning events, programs and resources for elementary and middle schools and community partners.
The Manager of University and Community Visitor Relations will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with schools across the institution; campus constituencies such as Public Safety, Public Affairs, Disability Services and University Event Management; and key community partners, serving as the internal University contact to support all campus visit needs.
The Manager will manage the School of General Studies Tour Guide Program, which includes the hiring, training and supervision of 8-10 paid tour guides who represent the General Studies undergraduate program, the Post-baccalaureate Premedical Program and the Dual BA Programs between Columbia University and Sciences Po and Trinity College Dublin.
The Manager will support the General Studies Office of Admissions by closely collaborating and providing tour guide support for admissions events, admitted student events, tele-counseling and student inquiry management.
With support from the Senior Manager of College and Engineering Visitor Relations, the Manager will hire, train, onboard and supervise 10-12 student employees who will lead the general University tour and staff the office answering phones and visitor inquiries throughout the academic year and during summer session. The Manager will also supervise one part-time graduate intern who assists with administrative work.
The Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Visitors Center, including staff and student coverage, budget oversight, maintaining the Visitors Center website, and developing and maintaining relevant data capture, surveys and reporting of on-campus visitors.
The Manager will develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders within and outside of the University who support early college awareness in order to develop and promote programming and resources for elementary and middle schools about college access.
The Manager will manage all College Access (elementary and middle school) and other group and private visit requests, including scheduling tours, booking space and tracking data.
Assume other responsibilities as designated by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Minimum 3-5 years of experience.
Experience in visitor/program management and constituency relationship development in higher education or related field.
Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
