The German International School Washington D.C. is looking to hire a teacher to conduct our drama classes for grade levels 5-7 and 8-12 and to stage two productions every school year.
The successful candidate will conduct the Drama group of our Afternoon Program
Organizes and puts on rehearsals and plays with the students
Cooperates closely with their fellow teachers, especially our Music and Art teachers
Helps with the design of costumes, props and stage
Operates and maintains the sound and lighting technology equipment and the props room
Participates in the public relations work (website, weekly newsletter) of the GISW
The successful candidate should have experience in planning, organizing and staging plays and shows.
Enthusiasm for teaching theater and culture to children and youths.
Flexibility to accommodate periodic overtime and weekend work
Demonstrated knowledge of theater theory and practical use of skills
Communication skills, ability to cooperate, be a team-player, work independently and be flexible
Knowledge of basic sound and lighting technology as well as manual skills
