Position Title: Web Application Developer/Programmer
Department: Strategic and Digital Communications
Supervisor: Senior Director of Digital and Strategic Communications
General Purpose: The individual holding this position is the technical lead for maintaining Molloy.edu, and developing, implementing and integrating web-based solutions for Molloy College. They will be tasked with utilizing the capabilities of the CMS to create solutions to requirements of programs throughout the institution, and designing, developing and implementing solutions utilizing various programming languages where the capabilities of the CMS are limited. This position works closely with the Web Content Manager to respond to the needs of constituents throughout the institution while keeping the needs of end-users at the forefront of all projects. Long-term projects and their priorities will be defined by the Senior Director of Strategic Communications, with this individual making recommendations and executing the projects utilizing the most appropriate technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitie:
Maintain multiple applications, user interfaces, application functions, application interfaces, databases or database applications, including the College's Intranet.
Plan, design, program, build, develop, test and deploy the Molloy College website (CMS). Troubleshoot software problems and issues and looks for ways to improve the application. Enhance existing websites using various frameworks and CMS platforms along with other industry standard web platforms.
Establish estimates and timelines for specific applications/projects and take direct accountability for results. Effectively prioritize and handle multiple concurrent activities; assist teams in planning and estimating timeframes for various activities.
Connect web applications to various database systems either directly or through web services. Utilize object oriented principals and design patterns to accomplish web application tasks. Document and version all work using version software.
Work closely with various departments and college leadership in order to effectively deliver projects that meet defined requirements. Provide user support for multiple complex applications. Provide information and recommendations for effective decision-making. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues and vendors.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, but will consider candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and significant experience building and maintaining complex websites.
Must remain current/relevant by maintaining certifications and attending professional development workshops.
Advanced experience with enterprise-level CMS solutions, Ingeniux a plus.
Three or more years of experience utilizing responsive design and coding skills (HTML5, CSS3) in multiple platform and browsing environments.
Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, FTP client applications, knowledge of W3C and WCAG standards and compatibility required.
Responsibility for public contact:
Contact with external and internal constituencies in-person, by phone and electronically are an integral aspect of the position. Courtesy, discretion and sound judgment are vital.
Licensing and Certification: None required.

Physical Demands: This job involves intensive computer-based work. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
