The position will provide direction in the management of the University’s innovation and entrepreneurship activity and will oversee the work of the Skandalaris Center’s operations team.� The ultimate goal of the position is to enhance the University’s entrepreneurial outputs among students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will directly supervise the Skandalaris operations team.� These positions are responsible for working with the University constituents to develop initiatives, programming, and best practices for startups in order to advance ideas towards innovation. This position will be responsible for training, mentoring, supporting, and evaluating these individuals and for managing their day-to-day operations.
This position will be responsible for developing and improving public relations of the Skandalaris Center within the internal and the external community.� This will involve attending departmental events and representing the Center to internal stakeholders. This position will oversee the development and perpetuation of the Skandalaris Center brand across all mediums.
Serve as communication liaison between the Center and all stakeholders, including National Council, donors, faculty and students.
Manage budgets, grants, and sponsorships across all Center activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of experience in industry and/or university innovation/entrepreneurship activities.
Advanced degree and 8+ years of experience
Self-starter with experience in managing personnel, providing reviews, training and mentoring is a plus
Proven ability to handle confidential information responsibly
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines with varying degrees of pressure; ability to exercise judgment and take corrective action; experience with SalesForce and Wordpress
The position must understand technologies and startup cultures
The person must have excellent leadership and communication skills and be able to represent Skandalaris Center inside and outside WU
This person will handle the complex activities of the Center – e.g. sensitive arrangements with startup ventures and selection of WU faculty/students receiving funding for ideas
Strong personnel management is a must
Applicant Special Instructions:
The work environment is primarily an office setting with frequent events/programs where transporting of lightweight (15lbs) materials/tables/etc., will be required.
Many Skandalaris events and programs are held in the evenings and on weekends, thereby requiring hours/activities outside the normal work-day as needed. Work will be conducted at both the Danforth and Medical School campuses and occasionally off-campus.
Base pay commensurate with experience.
