University Advancement has an outstanding opportunity for an Internal Communications SpecialistPOSITION PURPOSE Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Internal Communications for University Marketing & Communications (UMAC), the Internal Communications Specialist will provide critical support and develop communication strategies for enterprise-wide projects and communications outlined in the UW's internal communications strategic plan.Duties and Responsibilities Content ProductionCurate and manage the weekly production and distribution of UW Insider electronic newsletter to UW faculty and staff.Maintain and regularly post content on the Faculty & Staff Insider website, which contains news and information for UW employees.Source and edit images for UW Insider (weekly) and UW Insider Calendar (monthly).Work with Digital Engagement team to develop and implement strategies for targeting newsletters and other communications to employees based on campus location and/or job type.Support to include project planning; project management; writing/editing copy; and analyzing, compiling and reporting data.Assist with content creation as needed for internal communications; may be responsible for developing first draft content, editing the work of others, providing final proof, or any or all of the stages of the communication development process.Responsible for writing/editing communications that are clear, accurate, set the appropriate tone and align with the UW brand.Evaluate effectiveness of communications, tracking and reporting the results of communications and outreach efforts.Relationship ManagementAssist with managing student intern.Collaborate with UMAC team members (web, social media, events, creative, etc.) and campus partners to successfully execute internal communications strategies and tactics.Work with internal communications team to improve overall communication effectiveness and develop strategies for innovative communication delivery.Other duties as assigned, including staffing UMAC events as needed.Key CompetenciesCoreEffective communications: Expresses oneself clearly and empathetically in interactions with others in all forms of communication, i.e., verbal and written, one-on-one and group, etc.Interpersonal Awareness: Builds and maintains positive relationships and actively contributes as a member of working teams to achieve results.Professional Credibility: Takes responsibility for meeting goals, objectives, obligations, and solving problems while representing the mission, vision and values of the organization.Critical Thinking: Obtains, analyzes and evaluates information effectively in the face of ambiguity.
