Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time Donor Relations Manager with the Advancement Office.

The purpose of this position is to implement and manage an expanded program of stewardship and recognition for donors; this includes developing and advancing programs, procedures, budgets, events, and materials that assure accurate, timely, and appropriate interaction between the College, its donors and prospective donors, in an effort to strengthen relationships and achieve fundraising goals. Cultivate a donor-centered environment by communicating and demonstrating the impact of philanthropic support and inspiring alumni, parents, and friends to support the College to their fullest potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and manages the coordination of the College’s donor relations program.
Works closely with Prospect Research as well as Planned Giving, Major Gifts, and Advancement Services to ensure the holistic approach to a donor’s philanthropic journey.
Works closely with Advancement leadership to develop and execute concept and communications for all stewardship and campaign events, such as the annual Celebration of Philanthropy and President's Christmas Dinners.
Directs and manages an on-going program of personal contact with major donors to scholarships, endowment funds, endowed faculty positions, and capital projects. Facilitates direct contact and assures positive relationships are built and renewed between donors, students, faculty, administration, and staff.
Informs endowment fund donors or their living heirs about the effects and impact of their philanthropic support, along with pertinent financial data through the design and communication of annual endowment reports.
Directs and manages the personalized student to donor scholarship thank you efforts, achieving high touch and timely efficiency for this critical program.
Consistently assesses all stewardship policies and efforts for accuracy and needed improvements and oversees implementation internally and across campus.
Maintains close and effective working relationships with various academic departments and offices across the College and within Advancement team.
Works with gift planners for pre-solicit gift agreement concepts and gift instrument development for endowed and current restricted gifts.
Conducts research on historic gift agreements, conducts capital audits for historic and future naming rights, and assists as necessary in clarifying donor intentions.
Supports the gift receipting and acknowledgement process.
Other duties as assigned and observed.
Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
A strong background in communications and marketing experience a plus.
Computer literacy and knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Must have demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects creatively and flexibly.
Must have the ability to forge strong working relationships and have the desire to work as part of a team.
Must have the capacity for building confidence and trust among alumni, parents, and friends of Gustavus Adolphus College and have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Must be self-motivated, organized, and entrepreneurial with strong attention to accuracy.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills a must.
Must have the ability to participate in occasional evening and weekend activities.
Proven success and experience in non-profit development and/or donor relations.
Experience in planning upscale events for small and large audiences.
Experience with a donor database a plus. A working knowledge of Indesign and Photoshop are helpful.
