Responsible for and maintains the warehouse and its inventory of materials for the purpose of building and maintaining power lines. Takes bids, issues purchase orders, gathers and sorts materials for jobs, and maintains inventory documentation. Using moving equipment such as a forklift, ensures that materials are moved and stored in proper locations. Maintains the cleanliness, orderliness and safety of the warehouse. May work after hours during outages.
Essential Functions of the Job
Prepares purchase orders and interviews suppliers and representatives from manufacturers to assure adequate materials and supply sources at competitive prices that meets Cooperative specifications and standards. Directs the operation of the warehouse and enforces the cleanliness and orderly maintenance of the plant. Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of and issuance of miscellaneous receivables. Responsible for the accurate accounting of physical inventory. Responsible for the issuing and maintenance of purchase orders. Assists in shared Accounting Department check and bank runs and other special projects, as assigned. Regular attendance during normal business hours.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of RUS approved line materials, assemblies, equipment, and RUS specifications.
Abilities and Skills
Ability to understand and follow Cooperative maps, Cooperative Safety manual, work orders, construction drawings, staking sheets and any type of Cooperative forms related to work being performed. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with regards to cooperative information. Must be certified in CPR and first aid. Must also be skilled in the use of all safety equipment. Has and maintains a valid driver licenses with a good driving record and be insurable under the standard rate of the current carrier. Depth/distance visual ability and eye-hand coordination necessary. Ability to communicate effectively with cooperative members, employees, and vendors. Ability to promote continuous good member and public relations. Competent in reading and basic math skills. Ability to use calculate and convert quantities, e.g., pounds to feet, wire, gallons. Ability to use a computer. Must pass a physical exam initially, and drug/controlled substance screening tests randomly. Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work.
