This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs.
Under general direction of the Chief of Staff, the Budget and Operations Analyst is responsible for overseeing the budget for the President’s Office, and coordination with the resource manager in the Office of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs. Responsibilities also include providing executive support to the Chief of Staff, monitoring financial accounts, travel process, and office documentation. This position will have access to confidential information which will contribute to the development of management’s position on collective bargaining matters.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $6,000 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,233 - $9,514 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

To enter this classification at position skill level I, the incumbent must have a basic foundation of knowledge of the principles of organization, administration and management; and the ability to analyze and find solutions to problems, work independently, communicate effectively, and write clear and concise reports. Some positions may require a basic knowledge of research techniques and statistical methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree or professional training program specific to the position (e.g. Certified Public Accountant) and directly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Minimum of three years of experience providing high-level administrative support to an executive or administrator
Two years of professional experience with budgeting, including experience with forecasting, making projections, and analyzing data
Experience working with fiscal and operational processes including purchasing, travel and reporting
