WELLNESS INSTRUCTOR , Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation (DAPER ), to lead the wellness arm of the MIT Physical Education and Wellness Program, including teaching, curriculum development, program management, and public relations. Will be directly responsible for creating and supporting the wellness arm which involves curriculum development, wellness micro-lessons, student and instructor handbooks, health promotions, assessment, and managing supplies and materials for the wellness program. The wellness curriculum will be interactive, meet the diverse needs of MIT students, and be evidence based. Other key responsibilities include working collaboratively with other MIT wellness stakeholders such as Athletics, Recreation, Dining, Residential life, MindHandHeart, Community Wellness at MIT Medical, Mental Health, Student Support Services and Wellbeing, Emergency Management, Work Life Center, Religious Life, and Graduate and Undergraduate Students Associations.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in physical education, nutrition, health and wellness, or closely related field; at least one year of teaching and administrative experience, preferably at the college/university level; familiarity with wellness issues relevant to the college-age population; excellent oral and written communication skills for collegiate audiences; computer skills, including experience with word processing, basic movie editing, spreadsheets, scheduling software, and course management systems expected; willingness to learn and work as part of a team. Demonstrated proficiency with curriculum development and health promotions including social media desired. CPR/FA/AED certification must be obtained by August 2019. Appropriate certification in group fitness instruction is required if candidate doesn't have a physical education degree. Salary range: $55 - 60,000 depending upon experience
This is a full-time (ten-month appointment), benefits eligible position.
