This position leads a project focused on supporting the development of 2-Generational approaches to poverty reduction and advancing racial equity in service delivery in publicly-funded programs. This position leads human-centered design, facilitation, and documentation of multi-stakeholder conversations, including human-centered design processes that includes implementing event agendas, materials, and reports. This position also works with a team of others at the Future Services Institute and state government in assessing the effectiveness of the innovations development in the 2-generation program models to remove barriers to public policy.
Facilitate human services redesign 40% Provide program leadership to a multi-year initiative focused upon advancing 2-generation policy and programs in the state of Minnesota. Spanning many Departments within state government and nonprofit service organizations, this position engages others in system redesign activities: 1. Work with clients from state government and community organizations to develop human-centered design labs. 2. Coordinate team to solicit participants, carry out background research, develop materials, and oversee the logistics to carry out the labs. 3. Work with the research team to conduct qualitative data collection with partners through site visits and interviews to inform strategy development. 4. Define goals, objectives, and outcomes. 5. Create materials and tools that align with the goals, objectives, and outcomes of the project. 6. Implement and facilitate design-lab sessions. Recommend activities for continuous quality improvement. 7. Document and disseminate ‘harvest documents’ (written and multimedia) and other products / tools that capture work product and lessons for others
Project management 40% Provide project management to a multi-year initiative focused upon advancing 2-generation policy and programs in the state of Minnesota and liaising with state government and nonprofit service organizations in the following capacity: 1. Work with state agency staff to develop a request for proposals for direct service, 2-generation programs. 2. Work with the Academic Director, provide support for the sites chosen in implementing 2-generation programs. 3. Coordinate work of team members through all other phases of the 2-Gen project, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities and monitoring progress. 4. Monitor project budget to ensure cost effectiveness and resources are leveraged.
External Relationship Management 20% This position manages and maintains good relationship with external stakeholders (state and county governments, employment service providers, other organizations of interest, communities) throughout the project – includes conflict management, building new relationships, and being the liaison for questions and concerns. 1. Make public presentations about the project and larger Future Services Institute. 2. Maintain knowledge and stays abreast of area trends and developments in field. 3. Support development relevant proposals for funders’ to support these initiatives. 4. Write funder reports.
Required Qualifications: • BA/BS and at least 6 years professional experience. • Demonstrated skills in facilitation methods. • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member, function comfortably in an academic setting, and interact with a diverse group of individuals, organizations and the public. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Exceptional organizational skills, follow through, and attention to detail. • Computer proficiency required, including: MS Office and Google.
Preferred Qualifications: • Graduate or professional degree • Experience with human-centered design and program development. • Knowledge of publicly-funded early childhood education programs and systems. • Facilitation methods in Art of Hosting.
