The Program Associate will have a strong interest in systems change and innovative solutions in delivering the human services offered by government and nonprofit agencies, including responding to institutionalized racism. The position will provide program support for innovation- and design-based research projects in the Future Services Institute (see www.futureservicesinstitute.org ). Specifically, this person will work as a member of the 2-Generation Policy Network (see https://mn.gov/mmb/2-generation/) to support human-centered design processes, policy and program research, and network development in local grantees funded by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Overall, the position will support take up of research-based design innovations in the delivery of human services by state and local governments and nonprofits.
This position will require a person to exert independent judgement in inter-personal relationships with key government and nonprofit partners, exert creativity in developing implementation support materials, and resolve logistical issues associated working with people who work in different organizations. For example, for a project scaling a newly developed family assessment app, the person will need to communicate effectively with county managers in rural and suburban Minnesota, revise training materials, and develop webinar material to highlight key usability features.
Project Management & Implementation 40% • Work with project leaders and principle investigators to assess county government readiness for scaling interventions using research-based tools. • Provide project management and maintain relationships with external partners in nine local innovation projects (Cohort 2 of the Minnesota 2-Generation Policy Network). • Develop brochures, videos, graphic models, and training manuals, to assist in consistent implementation of the 2-Generation Program Model in Minnesota. • Work with an array of project leaders to develop virtual tool-boxes of planning and development resources for human-centered design, program evaluation, and other topics.
Research Support 30% • Conduct web-based research to assist refinement of local site program strategies. For example, summarize new developments within mental health or workforce programming, and document emerging trends in health and human services. • Assist in conducting literature searches for proposal development and interim/final report creation. • Help with information management in local projects
Event & Meeting Coordination 20% • Implement gatherings of the 2-Generation Policy Network sites. This includes managing the setting of dates and location, communication with all members of the local sites, and assisting other members of the innovation team with documentation of meeting results. • Coordinate site visits for evaluation and learning team. • Provide timely resources for state agency members of the 2-Generation Policy Network to allow them to participate in appropriate events.
Documentation 15% • Support project documentation in drafting reports to funders. • Develop multimedia tools and use professional graphics to summarize results of research, evaluation, and engagement events.
Required Qualifications: • BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 4 years • Experience successfully managing multiple projects • Experience in event planning and execution • Experience in research support and documenting research findings
