The senior communications specialist will contribute to the effective execution of internal communications associated with change management and organizational transformation efforts related to MyDay, a complex program designed to improve WashU’s operational excellence and ability to make insight-driven decisions. MyDay is an exciting, once-in-a-generation effort to replace the university’s core administrative IT systems (human resource, finance, and student) and improve associated business processes. The multi-year effort will replace these systems with a single system (Workday) that will integrate the university’s core administrative data in the cloud. The sr. communications specialist, who will work as part of a team of communications and change management professionals, plays a central role in developing and implementing plans to create awareness, understanding, engagement, acceptance and adoption of the new system, as well as new ways of working.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop communications plans in support of an end-to-end change management strategy in support of the MyDay program. Activities may include, but are not limited to, leading brainstorm and ideation sessions, participating in stakeholder outreach, setting measurable objectives, assessing results, and making recommendations regarding resource needs.
Communications Implementation and Evaluation
Manage the day-to-day implementation of communications in support of components of the MyDay implementation. Ensure the right messages get to the right individuals at the right time by identifying and leveraging existing communications channels and recommending new channels if needed. Ensure communications are consistent in terms of messaging and visual branding. Proactively Identify and elevate issues and concerns in a timely way.
Content Development and Management
Independently, and at times in collaboration with others, prepare communications (speeches, presentations, briefings, web content, articles, email content, video scripts, progress updates, podcasts, etc.) for a variety of internal audiences and relevant communications channels. Review and edit content developed by other members of the MyDay team, as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations) or an equivalent of education and experience, plus minimum 3 years of directly related professional work experience, including creating and implementing communication plans.
Five years professional work experience including creating and implementing communications plans.
Experience working in higher education and IT.
Understanding of and experience with information technology and enterprise resource planning systems.
Demonstrated experience working with senior level management.
Demonstrated results developing large complex communication campaigns.
Demonstrated experience driving website creation, improvements and analytics.
Understanding of HTML and basic website development.
Experience working with WordPress.
Experience with event planning and coordination.
Experience with media relations efforts and activities.

High level of intellectual curiosity to gain thorough understanding of sometimes unfamiliar concepts.
Experience in developing and executing targeted email campaigns.
Experience with event planning and coordination.
Experience with survey tools, specifically Qualtrics a plus.
Applicant Special Instructions:
Open, collaborative office environment. Ability to regularly travel to on-and off-campus locations required. Will require occasional on-call availability and working during non-business hours and on weekends. May require travel to conferences, vendor meetings and peer institutions.
The hiring range for this position is $50,294 - $65,374 annually.
