Formulate a successful philosophy to promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student-athlete.
Recruit and retain quality student-athletes in a number that allows for general attrition, injuries, and academic eligibility issues.
Work with Athletic Director to prepare a yearly budget for the softball program and operate within set budget.
Purchase equipment and uniforms, and maintaining records of all purchases.
Ensure that all softball players meet NJCAA eligibility requirements and work with Athletic Director in completing Eligibility forms.
Develop a fall and spring playing schedule.
Evaluate and recruit qualified prospective student-athletes and ensures timely submission of their academic records for admissions.
Make all travel arrangements for the team and recruiting.
Promote the athletic program through community events, public service, fundraising, and marketing.
Provide softball information and statistics to area and state media. Upload stats to NJCAA.
Develop and actively participate in a plan to enhance public relations for the softball program.
Provide academic advising to each player in the development of class schedule.
Monitor academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans through appropriate staff when needed.
Attend the instructional clinics yearly to remain up to date in coaching.
Establish and maintain an ethical and moral code of behavior and living that is expected of the players that are residing on campus.
Develop practice schedules and teach the fundamental skills and drills of the game of softball.
Direct and supervise the assistant softball coaches.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required(Practical coaching experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
Masters degree preferred for instructional opportunities
Proven interpersonal, written, oral communication The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership, written and oral communication skills, solid planning, and organizational abilities.
Additional Salary Information: Job is listed as part-time, but candidates with proper qualifications will qualify for full-time employment. In order to obtain classes to teach, candidates must have a Master's Degree with 18 credits in the required discipline. Current instructional opportunities include but are not limited to HPER and COMM department.
