Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Fund Development Manager expands Human Options’ revenue and funding opportunities by implementing effective donor cultivation, recognition and outreach strategies, and managing all agency marketing and communication objectives. This position will meet or exceed fundraising goals by promoting deeper stakeholder engagement through the building of collaborative relationships while strategically managing and executing the annual fundraising gala, annual giving campaigns and managing two staff.
The Fund Development Manager must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines. In addition, he/she must have the ability to thrive in an environment that requires significant self-initiative, anticipate project needs, manage multiple projects at once, and collaborate among many team members both internal and external to Human Options.

Management and administration:
Lead the strategy and manage two fundraising professionals in order to meet the overall fundraising goals of the department.
Inform and implement strategies for solicitation that will grow annual revenue from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Engage and manage a portfolio of donors.
Solicit, identify, and cultivate donors (new, lapsed, renewals).
Manage year-end appeals (direct mail, online, social media donor engagement), Annual Fund and other fundraising programs.
Create and execute 12-month donor touchpoint calendar to maximize individual giving.
Conduct research to gather data on potential donors, foundations, and donor markets as well as analyze donor trends.
Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.
Meet with donors and potential funders.
Assist the CDO in developing and evaluating short and long-term fundraising strategies.
Monitor progress to goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Manage one, full-time Communications & Marketing Associate to increase communication and marketing objectives including relationship with outside marketing and PR vendor.
Manage one, part-time Donor Database Associate to increase and deepen stakeholder engagement through gift entering, writing thank you letters, pulling reports, mailing lists, evaluating, and analyzing data.
By using exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills, build effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including staff, donors, board members, volunteers, media, local and virtual communities.
Event Administration for annual spring fundraising gala:
Prepare budgets and provide periodic progress reports to CEO/CDO.
Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting.
Research venue options, coordinate appointments and visits to see venue space, and schedule event on the master agency calendar.
Prepare and modify event contracts as requested.
Strategically manage and provide leadership for the event committee in order to meet or exceed event goals.
Planning and implementation of the annual spring fundraising gala:
Event Revenue Generation:
Lead the solicitation and securing of sponsorships.
Create event sponsorship packages.
Exceed revenue goals.
Event Planning and Production Management:
Create and manage the timeline, program and task list.
Lead all event planning and production meetings and discussions.
Organize and lead recommending honorees, recruiting event chairs and supporting them with the committee, working with the team to drive event concept, collateral supporting the event including working with graphic design/production/printing, and event marketing.
Gala Committee Management
Act as main point of contact for all Committee Members to maximize fundraising efforts
Prospect, identify, secure, and cultivate Committee Members
Send weekly e-communications that include an event update and fundraising tips
Draft personalized solicitation letters/emails as need be
Schedule and manage Gala Committee Meetings
Negotiate costs and services with vendors; book event space, arrange food and beverage, order all supplies/decorations, coordinate audiovisual equipment & operation, make travel arrangements.
Coordinate the logistics for shipping supplies to the event location.
Secure volunteers; manage the staff and volunteers working at the event.
A minimum of 5 years of preferred and documented success in a combination of fund development, event planning and business management functions.
Knowledge of fundraising strategies and techniques.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and CRM, such as Raiser’s Edge.
Knowledge of Orange County community.
Experience in volunteer and support staff management.
Excellent public relations skills and written and verbal communication abilities, including extensive public presentation experience.
A big picture orientation with the demonstrated ability to produce detail oriented and highly accurate work.
