The Mission of The Abbey of Saint Mary and Saint Louis/Saint Louis Priory School is to provide a Benedictine, Catholic, college preparatory education of the highest excellence so as to help talented and motivated young men in grades 7-12 develop their full potential as children of God. The purpose of this position is to embrace and articulate the mission of the school and to lead the creation and attainment of strategic recruiting objectives. The Director of Admissions reports to the Headmaster and works collaboratively with the Associate Headmaster, Director of Communications and Public Relations, and others in the promotion and marketing of the school, ensuring cohesive messaging in the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students. The Director is expected to be proficient in managing a data-based process that responds to the challenges and opportunities that recruiting and retaining the right student body present to the school’s financial sustainability and brand strength. Responsibilities include admissions management, retention, research, marketing, and oversight of the daily operations of the Admissions Office.
This is an 11-month, full-time, exempt level position.
The following duties are essential, normal tasks for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Under the guidance of the Headmaster, the Director will be responsible for the following:
Engaging with the Priory community of faculty, staff, students, and monks in order to become a part of the daily life of the school, be equipped to enthusiastically share the value of a Priory education and discuss all aspects of the student experience at Priory with prospective families;
Manages the overall daily operation of the Office of Admissions.
Supervises the Assistant Director of Admissions and the Admissions Specialist.
Recruits and supervises student, parent and alumni volunteers (Admissions Ambassadors).
Undertakes planning and management for all on- and off-campus Admissions events.
Coordinates other miscellaneous recruitment initiatives.
Conducts candidate recruitment.
Works to build relationships with applicant families through phone calls, meetings, correspondence, and social media.
Assesses candidate applications and files.
Keeps relevant statistics on all aspects of admissions, enrollment, and retention in order to support a data-driven enrollment management strategy; Prepare reports and materials to track progress and inform decision-making;
Conducts on-going research and planning to stay ahead of industry trends.
Plans and manages Admissions budget.
Supervises management of Prospect/Candidate/Enrollee database.
Supervises Standardized testing administration.
Collaborates with the Communications Office in the design and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and enrollment management program for the School (correspondence and direct marketing elements, digital marketing, collateral materials, print advertising, web content, promotional items, signage, etc.).
Chairs the Admissions Committee.
Liaison for the Office of Admissions to the Marketing Committee of the Board of Advisors.
Acts as the school’s liaison to the ISSL Admission Directors group.
Makes an annual report and presentation to the Board of Advisors and Monastic Trustees.
Other duties, including teaching responsibilities, as assigned.
Bachelor degree or higher.
Five-plus years’ experience overseeing a successful admissions office and/or administrative experience in secondary schools.
Expertise in student recruitment, selection, and data management preferred.
Experience in teaching or admissions in an independent or Catholic school preferred.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive circumstances.
Experience analyzing statistics and data.
Experience with admissions software preferred.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends based upon event schedule.
Successful completion of a criminal background check and the Protecting God’s Children program through the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
About Saint Louis Priory School
Saint Louis Priory School – a leader in Benedictine, Catholic education for talented and motivated boys – has 60 faculty (20% monastic, 80% lay), 75% of whom hold a master’s degree and 12% a doctorate. Priory enrolls 400 boys in grades 7 through 12, the normal entry point being grade 7. In addition to a typical secondary school curriculum, Priory boys must study theology (6 years), Latin (3 years), and a modern language (4 years). Most study mathematics through calculus. All compete on athletic teams for at least two trimesters each year. The average ACT score is 30.2. In a typical senior class 20-25% earn National Merit recognition.
