The Admissions Officer / Assistant Dean of Admissions is a professional member of the Admissions office team and assists in the recruitment and selection of new students (freshman and transfer) for the college. This position will visit secondary schools throughout the United States, meeting with counselors and interested students, take part in fairs/college days and college nights as part of the recruitment effort, and take a major role in interview students or conducting information sessions with students and parents who visit the campus during the year. This position will have major project coordination during the year, in particular, this position will lead large scale projects like CLAE (Carleton Liberal Arts Experience) and other significant outreach efforts, working closely with the Director of Diversity Outreach and Access. This position will review admission applications and assist in the selection process. This position will report to an Associate Dean of Admissions. This is full-time, year-round position.

The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree, good verbal and writing skills, high energy, a genuine interest in people, and an appreciation for liberal arts education. Must be comfortable with group presentations, thinking on your feet, and being part of a team. Applicants must be willing and available to work extended hours at certain times of the year, including some assigned Saturday mornings. Overnight and weekend travel at certain times of the year. Preferred: at least 1-3 years of admissions or related experience and knowledge of Spanish or other foreign languages is preferred. Familiarity with multicultural backgrounds and ability to relate to non-traditional students will be significant.
