The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (VPTL) delivers programs and services to faculty and students on campus as well as non-residential education opportunities to distance learners. The Marketing Data Analytics Specialist (MDAS) reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing and, with minimal supervision, builds and maintains our reporting dashboards that will integrate multiple data collection systems, acts as a Project Management Office to keep the team on track with our integrated marketing plan, and informs strategy for our marketing mix of channels and spend distribution.
The MDAS works with the VPTL communications and marketing team, program managers, customer service, technology systems and web developers on a regular basis.
The successful incumbent must have excellent quantitative and qualitative market analysis skills. They excel in identifying key market statistics, interpreting findings, and helping marketing managers understand the numbers behind their marketing strategies. The incumbent also be an expert project manager who can define and maintain standards for project management within an organization or department. Demonstrated experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint; use of project management tools like TeamWork; Excel statistical features, preferred; some knowledge of HTML, Drupal, and marketing automation software (Marketo) a plus.
The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver who loves making sense of numbers and breaking down collected market data to help drive marketing efforts.
Work under consultative or self-initiated direction to assess and produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories and generating the associated information. Distribute and disseminate reports to applicable agencies, researchers, management and other internal end-users.
Design and customize reports based upon data in the database.
Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys.
Collaborate with technical staff to standardize and systemize routine reports, dashboards, and metrics.
Social Media Marketing Management
Recommend and execute marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
Manage marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
Implement integrated marketing communications and brand strategy, across a variety of channels (i.e., digital and print).
Oversee design and production of marketing materials from inception to deployment.
Conduct market research, including competitive benchmarking, and analyze campaign/program/ service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting.
Assess market opportunities and track market trends. Recommend marketing improvements based on findings.
Manage vendors/consultants on specific projects.
Manage project/program budget(s) and coordinate invoice processing. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated project/program management skills, including the ability to influence without authority and the ability to manage multiple projects/programs simultaneously.
The ability to work effectively with decision-makers across many levels of the organization.
Experience developing new business opportunities.
Demonstrated experience with various marketing elements (e.g. pricing, audience, channels, communication).
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Previous experience in product, program and/or services marketing.
Ability to drive cross-functional groups toward a common goal.
Understands how to implement integrated marketing programs across channels including digital and print, with an emphasis on social media channels
Demonstrated experience with market research and data analysis.
Demonstrated problem solver.
In-depth knowledge and experience using and applying analytical software, database management system software, database reporting software, database user interface and query software, and data mining software.
Expert ability to collect data using a variety of methods, such as data mining and hardcopy or electronic documentation study, to improve or expand databases.
Basic statistical ability.
Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment; highly organized, flexible and rigorous attention to detail.
Ability to use logic to calculate data; efficiently construct a database or scrutinize the form of a question.

Demonstrated ability to produce data in a clear and understandable manner meeting user requirement.
