The Assistant Director of Online Communications serves as a project manager and technical lead for Online Communications. Assists Director in day-to-day operations, providing solutions, resources, design and consulting services. Performs initial intake on assigned projects and follows through on prescribed steps to completion, obtaining all reviews as needed.
Designs and creates consistent, coherent, functional and technically sound online solutions to promote a wide range of University programs and marketing initiatives. Works closely with department staff including Designers, Editors, Photographers, and Video producers, to incorporate all needed resources into projects, and creates strong integration as needed with related print, video, and social media projects. (30%) Manages priority projects for academic and administrative units as assigned. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Manages resources within budget and project schedule. (20%) Assists Director with the day-to-day management of University Websites and supporting systems. Leverages QA tools and works closely with OIT staff as well as academic departments and other units to maintain website quality and effectiveness. (20%) Communicates and enforces standards to Online Communications team members, and University community as needed. Reviews work of the Online Communications team and facilitates effective team interaction for optimum results on projects. (15%) Serves as an essential member of the crisis communications team working on projects ranging from routine University closings due to inclement weather to life-threatening incidents. (5%) Makes recommendations for upgrades to hardware and software that support team capabilities. Stays abreast of all technical aspects of the various software, hardware and data systems for Web development, including content management systems. Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions. (5%) Performs other duties assigned. (5%)
