The Director of Development for the College of Arts and Humanities will be responsible for the following: 1) Raise dollars to meet annual goals through direct solicitation of individual donors, foundations and corporations for major, in-kind and planned gifts. Involves face-to-face visits with major gift donors and prospects; 2) Conduct ongoing gift stewardship through follow-up visits, recognition and engagement of major gift donors; 3) Together with the College Dean, plan the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations within the College. Includes setting annual fundraising goals for the College, and developing and implementing strategies to achieve the goals; 4) Function as a team member with College, University Advancement, and Foundation staff to help ensure effective and efficient gift receipting, administration and stewardship; annual giving; alumni relations; marketing; alumni/donor database management; College scholarship administration; and advisory board development and management; 5) Other duties as assigned at the direction of the Vice President for University Advancement and the Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities.
Bachelors Degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
Three (3) years of experience in non-profit administration, fundraising, alumni affairs, public relations, sales and promotions, marketing, or a related field in order to acquire skills necessary to administer, coordinate and/or participate in a variety of fundraising activities.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Demonstrated track record of success in goal-setting and measurable achievement and follow-up.
Demonstrated negotiating and closing skills.
Fundraising or sales experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong presentation, writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
Strong planning skills and the ability to implement strategic plans, including demonstrated ability to use research tools (such as donor profile information) to create plans.
Ability to travel throughout the community, state and country, with occasional (estimated 3 nights monthly) overnight travel.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Demonstrated ability to be a positive contributing member of multiple teams at once (College and Division).
