Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an RBHS Director of Community Engagement (DCE). The RBHS Director of Community Engagement initiates, leads, and implements community engagement and public relations strategies that advance the RBHS mission of community service with key external and internal constituents. The DCE will coordinate and oversee interactions with the City of Newark; County of Essex; community healthcare, education, and service organizations; and other key stakeholders.
Supplements and enhances the individual community engagement efforts based in the RBHS schools, centers, and Institutes represented on the RBHS Newark Campus.
Provides leadership and support for building positive relationships with the community surrounding the RBHS Newark campus.
Serves as the Chancellor’s representative on various internal and external boards, commissions, and task forces.
Communicates regularly and effectively with civic leaders and community groups on the core missions of RBHS research, education, patient care, and community service.
Organizes community oriented events on and off campus, assists in event planning and implementation.
Attends and makes presentations about RBHS and Rutgers University at meetings of community groups, advocacy organizations, neighborhood associations, city councils, government and agency hearings.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in government, health care, or higher education with a record of extensive community relations experience with an emphasis on urban environments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, human relations, and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
Demonstrated understanding of academic health care and the health care delivery system.
