As the Donor Events Manager, you are responsible for developing and implementing revenue-producing events and managing the Zoo's sponsorship program. As you manage and implement these events, you will also in immediate contact with current and potential board members, donors, sponsors, and other Zoo benefactors.
Manages all donor special events including but not limited to managing timelines, arranging and attending committee meetings, setting agendas, taking minutes, working with vendors, coordinating with zoo staff, developing event plans, managing prospectus, and following with post-event activities.
Evaluates and refines donor events to positively impact attendance and elevate the Zoo's profile.
Serves as liaison with committees and staff on donor events activities.
Works in concert with chairperson, committee, and all departments of each event to coordinate and evaluate each event and develop expansion strategies.
Develop and monitor budgets to ensure revenue and expenses are kept within established boundaries.
Manages sponsorship program for the Zoo including but not limited to establishing sponsorship levels for each event, identifying needs for each sponsor, tailoring a package for each ask, developing relationships with prospects and donors, and tracking giving and benefits.
Oversees the Zoomer program, including but not limited to membership and events.
Meets all financial goals and budgets for events.
Assists marketing and Public Relations In generating media for special events.
Constantly exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside of the zoo, showing hospitality to all.
Be fully committed to the mission of San Antonio Zoo to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward and animals we protect.
Any and all other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
Minimum of three years demonstrated experience in event planning and/or positions requiring substantial public contact and community interaction.
Ability to work in a cooperating environment.
Excellent communications skills, including writing, editing, and public speaking.
Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational ability & concern about time management.
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking ability.
Sound negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, budget, and financial goals.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and after hour assignments.
