Essential Duties: Coach the Women’s Basketball team in game competition. Direct daily practice during the prescribed season. Recruit prospective players. Supervise team travel and responsible for team equipment checkout and return. Construct competition schedule with approval of the Director of Athletics. Enforce NCAA rules and regulations regarding team participation. Assist with academic monitoring of student-athletes. Assist the Director of Athletics with public relations and fundraising activities. Supervise Assistant Coach. Direct summer camps. Perform other duties as assigned.
Must have strong team building/management skills; ability to work across academic and administrative departments in a cooperative manner; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate collaborative efforts; demonstrated experience in program development, management, and leadership; ability to interact with members of the public and media; ability to supervise regular and temporary staff; understanding of the student-athletes’ commitment to academics; ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. occasionally. Knowledge of the Northwest Indiana area school systems is preferred. As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties.
Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Education, Fitness or related program is preferred.
2-3 years basketball coaching experience required at the professional, college or high school level. 4 years experience preferred.
