We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Corporate Media Relations, Asia Pacific.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, Asia-Pacific locally and functionally to Global Head of Corporate Media Relations, Global Communications.
Drive HSBC's global reputation and positioning through the delivery of proactive media relations activities and campaigns in Asia-Pacific. This includes leading management of external communications from financial calendar events, strategic announcement and leading on and handling reputational media issues.
Provide key internal stakeholders, including CEOs and Management Team, with informed counsel on all media relations matters.
Oversee all media relations activity in close collaboration with Head of Communications, Asia-Pacific and Global Head of Corporate Media Relations.
Lead the delivery of proactive media relations activities in support of External Communications campaigns.
Work with the wider Communications colleagues to deliver a proactive media relations strategy that is aligned to the Global Businesses and Functions. The role holder will also work collaboratively with the communications teams globally as well as with Investor Relations, Legal, Strategy and Planning, Finance, Government Relations, Human Resources.
Participate in stakeholder engagement inclusive but not limited to media relations activities, build and maintain relationships with core media and other key external stakeholders.
Lead the development of a cohesive media relations strategy for HSBC in Asia-Pacific, delivering strong positioning for improved reputation that supports the creation of external conditions for execution of business strategy.
Anticipate and identify issues that may have an impact on the operations or reputation of HSBC Group or Asia-Pacific and provide insight, analysis and counsel to Management.
Maintain and improve impactful and business-benefitting coverage in target/influential media.
Established relationships with key contacts across region media in Asia-Pacific
Sufficient experience of operating in Asia-Pacific
Sufficient seniority and credibility to represent HSBC with key international media
Strong influencing and leadership skills including the ability to mobilise resources across markets
Credibility with senior management stakeholders
Proven crisis communications skills and experience in issues management
Strong knowledge of global banks and the broader financial services marketplaces
Excellent writing skills with proven ability to produce clear, engaging narrative.
