The Media Communication Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing technical expertise in the coordination of media advertising campaigns associated with conducting a comprehensive statewide tobacco education program for the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) - California Tobacco Control Program (CTCP). This position will coordinate and assist with all aspects and stages of creative development for television, radio, print, out of home, digital and mobile advertising, reviewing and providing strategic and creative input regarding advertising and media plans. This position is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the development and implementation of digital media projects, including websites management and daily oversight, digital advertising and digital/social media consumer engagement.REQUIRED-Experience coordinating a variety of advertising and digital efforts, including the coordination of formative research with focus groups and online testing to assess advertising concepts.-Familiar with coordinating procurement efforts to obtain advertising services, substantiates and verifies statistics, facts and scientific notations for advertising, public relations, and other media materials.-Experience working on digital and social media campaigns.-Experience coordinating a variety of digital media projects. -Experience with digital video editing software.-Experience analyzing data and writing a wide variety of media materials. -Project coordination/management experience in handling highly visible communications projects.-Experience analyzing digital media, social media, or communications problems, develop alternatives including a list of pros and cons, and make sound recommendations on a course of action to high level administrators on public health communication issues.-Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suites.-Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.PREFERRED-Bachelor's degree communications/journalism/media/public relations or other related field and extensive experience in communications, advertising, and marketing.-Experience working with advertising agencies to develop comprehensive media campaigns.-Spanish language skills.-Familiarity with California State Government and the principles of public health administration.
