The Office of Global Affairs at West Virginia University seeks a dynamic, motivated Communications Coordinator (MAP title: Special Events Coordinator) to assist with the management of the organization's internal and external communications, marketing efforts, as well as the student recruitment efforts of the Intensive English Program and other programs managed by the Office of Global Affairs. The position works with various Global Affairs units, such as Education Abroad, International Students and Scholars Services, the Intensive English Program, and the Office of the Vice President for Global Strategies and International Affairs. Working collectively with the units, the position helps advance West Virginia University's global reputation through creative storytelling, marketing, promotion, events, and helping promote the University's successes domestically and abroad.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Identify, develop, craft, and distribute written stories about the University's international activities.
Edit and proof written pieces to prepare for distribution.
Develop content for print materials for the Office of Global Affairs. Working with unit leadership, identify needs and create production timelines. Working in conjunction with University Relations, incorporate creative content for print pieces.
Develop event strategies for promoting and implementing events for the Office of Global Affairs, including scheduling, logistics, marketing strategies, and engagement methods.
Utilize social media to promote the University's achievements to domestic and international audiences.
Assist with development of overall marketing strategy, including recruitment plans for Intensive English Program, and other related projects.
Assist with special projects, including award nominations, proposals, and other projects.
Develop website content and maintain Global Affairs websites, updating content and developing web communication strategy.
Pay Grade: 16
Bachelor's degree is required. Degrees in Media/Journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field is preferred.
At least one year of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, social media, reporting, or directly related experience.
