Job Summary:

The temporary communications specialist will assist with the content portion of the IMEâ™s website redesign project and handle other communications needs as assigned, which may include long and short form news articles and social media posts. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of creativity and strategic thinking to this role, a journalistic attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  

This is a (3) three-month position.

Responsibilities:

• Write and/or edit content for website.
• Help update and maintain IME website.
• Assist in content migration.
• Support other IME marketing and communications efforts.
• Proof reading, developing and posting media content.
• Writing short and long form articles.
• Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

• Verbal and written communication skills required.
• Proven knowledge of SEO best practices required.
• Proficiency in or willingness to learn Expression Engine and Drupal, our content management systems required.
• Capacity to handle multiple tasks and competing demands under tight deadline required.
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team required.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, English or a related field required.

Experience:

• A minimum three years of experience in journalism, communications or a related field required.
• Experience with developing and maintaining web-based communications (such as blogging, newsletters, social media, website maintenance, etc.) required.
• Nonprofit or higher education communications experience preferred.
