Financial aid counselor for the College of Veterinary Medicine (30%)
Review records for students in CVM and its joint SPH program: adjusts budgets and awards and adjusts aid for federal, state, University, and private aid programs.
Advise CVM and SPH staff on current federal, state, and University financial aid policies.
Work with CVM/ SPH to coordinate the awarding of scholarships, grants, Health Professions Loan, tuition waivers, and other awards.
Serve as the principal contact for One Stop and Office of Student Finance staff for questions related to CVM/ SPH, Physical Therapy, Humphrey, the College of Design.
Serve as the principal contact for students in these programs.
Respond to financial aid inquiries related to students in these programs via phone, email, in-person appointments, and weekly outreach.
Financial aid counselor for the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, Physical Therapy, and the College of Design (30%)
Serve as the principal contact for students and departmental staff in these programs.
Provide orientation sessions for new students in these careers.
Process SACE forms (study abroad cost estimates) for CDES students, as CDES programs no longer go through the Learning Abroad Center.
Provide weekly financial aid outreach for CVM students and prospective students.
Graduate and Professional Financial Aid Counselor (30%)
Perform financial aid awarding and processing for graduate and professional students in all careers.
Award and adjust federal, state, University, and private aid awards in accordance with federal, state, and University policies.
Provide financial aid counseling to graduate and professional students in all careers. This includes: in-person appointments, orientations, emails (SalesForce and personal), phone calls, and weekly outreach at the Veterinary School.
Process daily financial aid queries for the Grad/Pro Unit. Understand and apply all guidelines, policies, and regulations in making appropriate adjustments to students’ records. Queries include: budget queries, manual packaging queries, SAP PhD query, NEDEU, tuition benefits, non-resident tuition waivers, Regents Scholarships, SF Transactions, and payroll fellowships.
Apply professional judgment and process financial aid appeals, which include: Cost of Attendance appeals, Professional Educational Development appeals, Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals.
Graduate and Professional Financial Aid Report Processing (10%)
Processes records selected for unusual enrollment history and V4 verification for grad students.
Serves as contact for One Stop and OSF staff for questions related to graduate and professional students in all grad/pro careers.
Processes private loan applications from students in graduate/professional careers.
Works with FA-IT to develop new queries or tweak existing queries, as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of four years of related professional experience in counseling, financial aid, or student services.
Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle high volume processing and adapt to changing priorities.
Excellent customer service, time management, and communication skills (verbal and written).
Working knowledge of spreadsheets (MS Excel), word processing (MS Word and Google Docs).
Knowledge of University, state, and federal financial aid regulations, and familiarity with University of Minnesota policies and procedures.
Understanding of, and experience with PeopleSoft Student Financial processing and the Federal Needs Analysis formula.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Master’s degree and additional experience is a plus.
