Hopkins School, an independent, co-educational, college-preparatory day school in New Haven, Connecticut, with over 700 students in grades 7-12, is seeking a Director of Communication. The successful candidate will manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of communications that reflect the mission of Hopkins School and adheres to the School’s brand messaging and style guidelines. This position will report to the Head of School and be responsible for school-wide publications, various public and media relations, and advancement activities.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
Working closely with the Head of School to develop and implement both internal and external communications that support the School mission and institutional priorities.
Partnering with departments across the School to identify communication opportunities that will inform and build positive and productive relationships with key audiences, including students, parents, faculty, staff, prospective students, alumni, and the community.
Working closely with the Director of Enrollment Management and Strategic Marketing and the Director of Development to develop and execute efforts that attract prospective families and engage current families and alumni while increasing the School’s visibility.
Working closely with the Director of Development to oversee the development and implementation of a communications plan of all impending comprehensive campaigns.
Building and fostering relationships with media outlets and manage public relations and media responses.
Working with senior administrators on crisis and emergency communications and to ensure proper messaging is delivered across all communication platforms.
Managing multiple publications and community-wide correspondences and capitalize on the best uses of the website, digital technology, and social media.
Setting annual and long-term strategic goals, and manage an integrated marketing and communications approach for school-wide initiatives.
