Execute the strategic plan of the Associate Athletic Director while adhering to directives, planning and accountability. Assists in the daily execution of athletics communications plan.
Oversee communication efforts for baseball or softball and other assigned sports. Manage and execute social and digital media strategies under the leadership of the Assistant AD for Communication. Assist in collaborative efforts to push the messaging of the communications plan that consists of promotions, publicity, writing, editing, interviewing and relationship building. Generate creative content and timely current/relative story lines for athletic website and University media outlets. Travel with sports teams as needed. Report statistics, schedules, rosters and all other media needs to the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference. Produce game notes, game recaps and other news releases for assigned teams. Assist in press conference facilitation and media interview requests and establish credible relationships with university communications team, including student newspaper and radio staffs. Provide day-to-day operational support to the communications team. Assist in creative and content publication for game day programs. Other duties as assigned. Strong writing and editing skills, graphic design skills, knowledge of statistical programming. software skillset includes Microsoft Office and Adobe products, internet website and social media publishing/content management systems. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. Will work more than 40 hours per week during the academic year. Maintain consistency with university communications policies, procedures and regulations. Work closely with the NCAA, Sun Belt Conference and other athletic governing bodies.
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of progressive intercollegiate athletic communications career development including areas of journalism, public relations, media services and new media strategies or the equivalent experience.
Experience in NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics.
