The American Urological Association, the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care, is actively recruiting an experienced State Advocacy Manager.
Primary duties include:
Conceptualizes, creates, develops and implements the AUA’s state legislative agenda
Serves as the lead for the AUA delegation to the AMA House of Delegates
Provides AUA positions on proposed resolutions
Coordinates urology caucus events
Develops process to propose new resolutions with AUA’s Legislative Affairs Committee
Serves as the staff liaison for the State Advocacy Committee – determines, updates and advocates on policy priorities
Follows health legislation and regulation at the state and section levels

The successful candidate:
Bachelor’s Degree required and 4 years’ experience; Master’s degree preferred with 3 years’ experience;
Degree in Political Science, Public Relations, Health Policy or related field preferred;
Knowledge of the state legislative/political process and the ability to synthesize complex problems/issues related to urology;
Excellent analytical and project management abilities;
Outstanding communication, public speaking, writing and organization skills;
Experience in health legislation research and analysis;
Experience working in political and/or legislative activities;
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel necessary;
Ability to handle multiple projects under pressure in a team setting.
