The Student Development Specialist II will assist in the management of a comprehensive intramural sports program, with direct responsibility for supervising multiple student staff groups and taking a lead role with assigned sports and events.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
One or more years of experience in student affairs work or related specialty with a bachelor's degree. No experience required with a master's degree

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Oral and written communication skills

Skills in sports officiating, officials training, sports scheduling, event management, and familiarity with sports scheduling software and staff scheduling software
Salary: $36,512.00 - $46,924.80
Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates intramural officials in assigned sports (50-100 each semester), intramural scorekeepers (30-40 each semester), intramural sport coordinators (6 each semester), and one student assistant. Completes all required human resources processes and bi-weekly payroll for assigned staff in Workday. Maintains pertinent student employment records.
Works with student organizations and other external groups to provide assistance with the staffing and operation of their events that involve sport officials.
Facilitates and coordinates all organizational and administrative duties for assigned sports and other events, to include team registration, league play and playoff schedules, securing appropriate equipment, interaction with facility operations staff regarding playing schedules, game reschedules, forfeit fines, awards, team evaluations, etc. Directly oversees assigned program activities. Helps develop and implement policies for the intramural program as a whole.
Helps coordinate the process of choosing what equipment and apparel for staff and participants is utilized in the intramural sports program. Monitors and provides assistance and input in developing the overall intramural sports program budget.
Helps coordinate the information provided from the intramural program to the department marketing staff for advertising, social media, sponsorships, and development.
Assists other staff members with other departmental special events, meets, and programs. Maintains a positive relationship with other departments and personnel that will assist in the development, funding, promotions, and/or public relations of the department. Serves on national, university, divisional, and departmental committees as needed. Assists in establishing long and short term goals of the department. Attends local, state and national workshops and conferences. Hosts and presents at various recreational sports workshops. Interacts with students, faculty and staff for the benefit of carrying out the mission of the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
