The Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs in the School of Professional Studies is seeking and Assistant Director to serve as key resource and liaison to school and academic unit leadership, providing expertise in the process and requirements to secure registration with New York State for new programs or substantive changes to existing programs, assessment requirements, and State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Responsibilities include: support academic programs and educational/administrative units in all phases of program life cycle as it relates to compliance standards. Review academic proposals for new and/or revised undergraduate and graduate curricula to ensure compliance with standards and regulations with the New York State Education Department, Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the University, and the School; consult with deans, directors and faculty regarding proposal submissions; review for substance and accuracy, revise proposals as necessary. Manage and supervise the maintenance of records and databases of all registered programs, state approved program revisions, accreditation reports and outcomes, external accreditations, and other related information. Ensure data in school and university systems is correct and accurately reflects the current state of the school; update as appropriate. Manage information, communication, and support. Provide consultative guidance on matters of regulatory compliance to academic units and school leadership. Manage review and revision process related to publishing credit curricula and academic information in School publications. Develop, implement and manage a systematic process of tracking and documenting program assessment to support and meet assessment needs (such as those required for Middle States and other external agencies). Contribute to the development of new academic related policies where appropriate ensuring compliance and agreement with existing policies at all levels.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Master's degree in higher education administration, policy, management, or other related field.
Required Experience: 5 years progressively responsible experience in an academic institution with background and knowledge in implementation and administration of academic policies and procedures, compliance, and academic program review.
Preferred Experience: Experience working in a large, complex, decentralized, urban college or university
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain and analyze data as well as to communicate and present data in a variety of ways to various stakeholders. Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative assessment and data interpretation skills; Ability to implement and interpret policies and procedures and to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels; excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Ability to deliver consistently high quality, timely service and handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously in a high volume academic environment. Ability to establish priorities and to work independently and as part of team, take initiative, and follow through to completion. Knowledge of standard office software, such as word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Demonstrated ability to adapt successfully in a fast-paced and changing work environment and needs.
