LEAD WRITER , Resource Development (RD)-Office of Communications and Events-Marketing and Communications Team , to use extensive, specialized experience in development communications for engagement, fund-raising, and stewardship. Will contribute to communications and content strategies in support of RD fund-raising priorities, RD events and engagement marketing, publications, and stewardship reporting; play a lead role in preparing high-level content in support of those strategies for print and digital channels as well as multimedia; and serve as an advocate for effective storytelling and craft compelling and persuasive fund-raising messaging and content that builds the MIT story of philanthropy and enables frontline fund-raisers to maximize philanthropic investment in MIT in the context of an ambitious fund-raising campaign. Will report to the associate director.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least five years' professional writing experience; exceptional writing skills; proven ability to write in another person's voice and to perform copyediting work for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, and tone to maintain the highest standards at all times; editing and editorial planning experience, including contributing to editorial plans and timelines and adhering to content review processes; skill working collaboratively and independently; detail orientation; and organizational skills. A degree in journalism, communication, or related discipline and experience developing promotional copy for both print and digital media preferred. The analytic and research skills necessary for gathering and determining essential data from a variety of written and individual sources is also preferred, along with experience working with a large volume of concurrent projects. An understanding of higher education, fund-raising, and science and technology is desirable. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) and web content management systems in a Mac environment a plus. Job #16861-8
