Position Summary: The Communications Managing Editor creates and develops print and online content, publishes email newsletters, and is involved in website management. She/he will help strategize communications plans under the guidance of the Assistant Dean of Communications and Public Affairs; writing stories, press releases and other content for all communications channels to support the law school's goals in building reputation and brand. She/he will provide communications support for programs and centers including Career Services, Admissions, International Programs and Clinical Programs.
This person is responsible for writing/editing and managing publications including the annual alumni magazine Cardozo Life, admissions brochures, all alumni profiles as well as fundraising proposals and collateral. S/he will be part of a four-person team engaged in all aspects of content marketing, publicity and branding for the law school that created the Innocence Project and is a leading innovator in legal education. She/he will publish a bi-weekly newsletter for alumni as well as work with the Office of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs to strategize efforts for high-impact content supporting fundraising efforts.
Writes and edits alumni magazine, Cardozo Life
Manages print production of brochures and alumni marketing materials
Works with Yeshiva University Marketing & Communications team designers, videographers, and writers
Interviews alumni for feature stories online and elsewhere
Writing and upkeep of alumni website pages
Provides marketing content for online and social media campaigns
Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in communications or a related major
2+ years of experience in a communications office or similar experience
Strong capability in all digital communications, email and social media campaigns
Experience in an academic office a major plus
Familiarity with law and legal issues
Skills & Competencies:
Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design skills
Must be highly proficient in all digital platforms
Ability to present concepts verbally
Excellent organizational skills
Design capability or sensibility preferred for digital newsletters and social media
Able to work efficiently and collegially with other university offices as well as outside freelancers and vendors
Project management experience
An interest and curiosity about people and a desire to highlight stories in a compelling way for a wider audience
This person must contribute new ideas and proposals on a regular basis
A key contact with faculty members as well as administrators in Admissions, Alumni Affairs, the Dean's office, Career Services, Event Planning, and Institutional Advancement
Must be an excellent communicator and diplomatic representative of the law school
Help create a positive work environment and meet and manage deadlines
Must be able to analyze and solve problems and work independently
