The Assistant Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with an intermediate academic rank who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The Assistant Professor’s teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The Assistant Professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.
Description of Primary Duties:
The primary teaching responsibilities will be courses in the undergraduate core curriculum, graduate courses in advanced statistics, research methods, cognition and supervision of graduate student culminating experiences. Successful candidates may be able to fill other departmental teaching needs including courses in the undergraduate online program and courses within the applicant's area of expertise. Scholarship responsibilities include developing an active research program and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Service is expected at university, college and departmental levels, and participation is expected in activities that contribute to the public affairs mission of the university.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Candidates must have a Doctoral degree in experimental/quantitative Psychology or related field. ABD will be considered with an expected completion by start date.
