Department Summary The SOJC is an ACEJMC-accredited program with over a 100-year history at the University of Oregon, which is a comprehensive research university and a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). Our program thrives as a journalism and communication school known for innovation, ethics, and action. We offer four undergraduate concentrations (in advertising, journalism, media studies, and public relations), five professional and academic master’s programs, and a doctoral program in media studies.
Position Summary The University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) seeks applicants for its open instruction pool. We anticipate needs in multimedia, reporting, writing, editing, advertising, broadcast, online journalism, public relations, photojournalism, design, and other subjects. Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance.
Successful candidates will have substantial professional experience in the subject to be taught and either demonstrated or strong potential for teaching excellence. They also will have a firm commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Minimum Requirements • Master's degree (in exceptional circumstances, significant professional experience may substitute for a degree).
