Job Requisition Number: 25332. The Department of Recreational Sports provides competitive and recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community members. In addition to the 34 sport clubs and 600 intramural sports teams, the department offers a wide range of recreational activities and state of the art equipment. Learn more at https://recsports.berkeley.edu/ The Golden Bear Gymnastics (GBG) program offers classes for children 18 months - 18 years and is comprised of over 900 participants. GBG program components include instructional classes, competitive teams, school programs, birthday parties, private lessons, and summer camps. The GBG program is housed in a gymnastics facility including a large training facility and studio gymnasium. •Provides gymnastics instruction to program participants, individually or in groups. Interacts with recreational program participants in a positive and professional manner, may include spotting as described above and/or cashiering. •Maintains a safe and supportive environment, including equipment cleaning, set-up and tear-down for program participants and facilitates involvement. Enforces departmental policies and procedures. Reports safety issues to appropriate personnel and recommends improvements. •Assists with appropriate public relations, promotional programs, and extra events. •Broadens knowledge of teaching methods, techniques and skills through continuing education. •Participates in required professional development activities and staff meetings.•Has advanced knowledge of gymnastics instruction. •Previous experience with gymnastics instruction or working with children in fitness or sports industry. Previous experience working with age level specific to an activity is preferred. •Requires verbal and written communication in the English language, active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills. •Service orientation (may include cashiering), program management, sound judgment and decision-making, critical thinking, develop original ideas, creative problem solving skills in a varied and challenging environment. Must be able to work effectively, across all organization levels, internally and externally, •Basic Computer Knowledge. •Knowledge of campus policies and procedures. Licenses or certifications: • Certification to instruct in the applicable recreational sports program or equivalent experience preferred. •Red Cross CPR preferred. •Standard First Aid Training Certification preferred. |
