Job Purpose
 The Office of Undergraduate Admission (UGA) seeks a Senior Assistant Director of Admission whose primary responsibility will be to assist in the development and implementation of strategies to recruit and enroll students. Under minimal supervision, administer, implement and interpret university and/or department admission policies and procedures. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Admission for Diversity Outreach and External Relations, s/he may serve as the primary liaison to one of Stanford's cultural-themed community centers. Core Duties*
  • Read, evaluate and make first level recommendations on undergraduate applications.
  • Conduct informational sessions for internal and external communities.
  • Manage assigned geographic territory(ies).
  • Develop programs and efforts to cultivate and maintain relationships with secondary school personnel professional organizations, students, parents, and alumni (e.g., conduct regional outreach including regional events, college fairs, high school visits, counselor workshops, case study programs, etc.).
  • Serve as a resource to other departments, represent unit/department at activities and events, meetings, committees and conferences.
  • Responsible for the administration or management of a specific program.
  • Develop and implement programs and strategies for recruitment of top students, bear primary responsibility for a specific area of focus.
  • Develop and deliver outreach programs in local, national and international communities, conduct informational meetings and respond to questions regarding admissions and the student experience at Stanford.
  • Analyze needs, develop and manage admission programs and processes.
  • May conduct quantitative analyses of admission data (e.g., oversee collection of enrollment data, develop reports and analyses to make recommendations for future program development).
  • Serve as a public relations and information source to prospective applicants, secondary or university personnel, professional organizations, students, parents and alumni (e.g., develop and maintain relations with Stanford alumni admission volunteers in assigned territories); represent University at activities and events, meetings, committees and conferences).
  • May supervise the work of other staff.
*Other duties may also be assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Required
 Bachelor's degree and two years (four years preferred) of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience (preference for highly selective admission). Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make distinctions among competitive applicants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Professional presentation skills.
  • Program planning skills.
Certificates and Licenses Required California driver's license required. Physical Requirements*
  • Frequently perform desk based computer tasks, seated work and use light/fine grasping.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely stand, walk, use a telephone and write by hand.

 Working Conditions
  • May work extended or non-standard hours based on project or business needs. Occasional local and overnight travel required.
