UMBC's Office of Institutional Advancement supports the University's mission and strategic priorities in a variety of ways, including telling the UMBC story through brand, stories and design; building partnerships with community stakeholders; and fundraising to support students, faculty, alumni and programs.
Position Overview:
Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director of Donor Relations will work with colleagues to prepare documentation for gift acceptance in accordance with policies. They will manage activities related to the Hilltop Society and the 1966 Society, the university's two giving societies, as well as other donor stewardship events. Working with the director they will direct donor endowment and impact reporting for donors and oversee campus naming activities. This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Prepare documentation for gift acceptance in accordance with UMBC and USMF policies
Direct annual financial endowment reporting to donors
Coordinate annual impact reporting to donors, including support of programs like Meyerhoff, the Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program, the Alex Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and others
Manage the communications, the collaboration with development staff and various events related to the university's two giving societies: The Hilltop Society for annual donors and The 1966 Society for planned giving donors
Plan, manage and collaborate with OIA and university staff on additional Donor Relations events, such activities with the Meyerhoff Scholars Program and the Linehan Artists Program
In coordination with the Director, work with development staff on stewardship activities
Oversee the campus's naming opportunities and work with communications staff and donors as appropriate
Support other stewardship activities in collaboration with development staff and other OIA and university leadership
Develop other stewardship activities as appropriate
Support Institutional Advancement activities and events
Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Four years experience required in donor relations, development, communications or a related field
Experience with constituent databases
Must be an outstanding communicator, possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency
The ability to work independently on multiple projects while communicating progress to colleagues and stakeholders
Must demonstrate good judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Experience in a university or college setting
Experience with the Ellucian Advance database application
High attention to detail and a proactive work ethic
