Under limited direction, a seasoned leader and manager to oversee the department's community funding programs, homeless programs, and related department and city-wide programs and projects. These include overseeing the Human Services Fund, Substance Education an Awareness Fund, human services funded community contracts; to oversee development, implementation and management of related department and city programs and projects; to oversee the Homelessness Strategic Plan updates and implementation, to develop and implement new work programs and projects associated with the implementation of the Human Services Strategic Plan; to serve as liaison to other departments and community organizations on related city-wide projects; to serve on inter-departmental teams and various city-wide and community committees representing the department and city; to work closely with leadership of the Department to advance the mission of the Department and the city. This position is a member of the department's management and leadership teams.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Affairs; Public Health, Economics, Social Work, Community Planning or related field, plus at least six years progressively responsible experience working with government or other large complex organizations in a leadership position. Experience in developing and implementing public policy. Demonstrated successful planning, organizational and supervisory skills. Strong complex project development and management skills; strong budget management and development experience; demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public presentations; strong conflict resolution and community collaboration experience; familiarity with human services systems. Ability to work with elected officials and at all levels of the organization and community groups. Ability and willingness to attend night meetings. Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – In addition to the required minimum qualifications: Experience in funding allocations management and processes and homeless services and systems development. Familiarity with the local human services system.
