Under general supervision, the Organizational Development & Strategic Business Sr. Analyst is responsible for providing high level analysis and advice to the Executive Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration for the Jacobs School of Engineering on a wide range of complex organizational and operational problems and issues of a confidential and sensitive in nature. Combining originality and historical and political understanding of the campus and Jacobs School of Engineering with organizational development experience, project management skills and tools, the incumbent conducts in depth research and analysis to provide information and recommendations important to formulating short and long term strategic decisions in the division and Dean's office. Issues and initiatives span functional and academic areas including academic personnel, human resources, education program administration, organizational development, capital/space planning and process improvements. Regularly communicates and collaborates with contacts in the EVC's Office, across Academic Affairs, and within Jacobs School departments. Ensure division's priorities and goals are well-represented.
Partner with leadership and managers on strategic human resources and complex personnel issues. Offer insight regarding organizational strategy and implementation. Observe and identify opportunities for development of Dean's Office training and programs for varying staff audiences within the Dean's Office and division.
Using management skill and knowledge of operational improvement, identifies issues that require cross-functional input and participates in the evaluation, analysis, and coordination of analysis, strategies, decisions and outcomes. Communicate with leadership and departments regarding projects and monitor progress towards completion of projects. Anticipate impact of projects and implement change management tools as needed. Write reports, white papers and strategy documents. Participate in the Jacobs School Administrative Process Excellence Initiative, serving on committees, work groups and task forces.
Promote internal communication of information to individuals and committees within the Jacobs School Dean's Office, extending throughout the Division. Develop proactive and sustainable means of internal communication to create necessary channels for sharing important information, providing the opportunity to network across teams on projects, define roles, and state new initiatives and or goals.
In conjunction with the Executive Assistant Dean, the incumbent oversees division-wide capital and space planning, in order to meet and adapt research, office and other space requirements of the Jacobs School. Serve as the Dean's Office liaison with departments, director of space planning for the EVC- Resource Management team, and Facilities Management to ensure division needs are met. Provide analysis, reporting and recommendation to the Executive Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration on space utilization and related budgetary plans and expenditures. Participate in long-range planning initiatives affecting campus offices and make recommendations to Jacobs School leadership on long-term space management and related operational issues.
Knowledge of Organizational Development principles and practices. Ability to plan and implement strategic initiatives and change management concepts to workable solutions.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement techniques.
