BA or BS in business administration, engineering or a related field. Five (5) years experience in hospital operations. Demonstrated ability in planning in large hospital operations: quantitative methods, flow charting, GANTT charts, program and capital planning techniques and processes, financial analysis and scheduling. Expert use of Excel and Microsoft Word are highly desirable. Working knowledge of AutoCad is preferred. Knowledge of hospital purchasing practices and procedures; experience in negotiations of complex purchase agreements for hospital equipment. General knowledge of past, present and future hospital equipment and furnishings (uses, sources, costs and general requirements); experience in researching new products. Physical requirements: must be able to lift light loads (20 pounds or less) and reach occasionally (0-33% of the workday); and must have good vision, hearing and speaking ability. Valid Michigan driver's license.
Plans equipment needs for new construction and renovation projects (scope of equipment needs may range to millions of dollars; overall timeframes may range to three years) during the design development phase of project design. Creates room-by-room Excel spreadsheets to quantify equipment needs based on departmental requirements. Creates equipment budget spreadsheets based on above planning. Creates equipment plans, using AutoCAD, showing equipment locations and utility requirements. Creates equipment specific data sheets, highlighting equipment model numbers, sizes, utility requirements, and other relevant data. Performs research, evaluates samples, and recommends equivalent products for the current and future needs of the hospital. Product evaluation includes input from users. Writes specifications for all equipment to assist the Engineering Buyers in issuing RFP's. Works with the Buyers to develop sourcing and negotiate pricing. Provides the Buyers with delivery and installation schedules to coordinate with the Construction Manager's schedules. May assist the Buyers to: · Plan grouped equipment purchases · Negotiate complex technical/medical contracts · Analyze vendor proposals · Prepare purchase requests · Assure tagging of equipment · Assure warranty registration and subsequent warranty service Keeps current with evolving medical equipment technology. Plans moves ranging in size from individual offices to complete departments for implementation by the Construction Foreman. Coordinates reconfiguration of modular furniture, including keeping an accurate inventory of available modular components and furniture. Develops interior sign schedules for major and renovation projects. Coordinates signs and sign design with Corporate Communications to ensure compatibility with corporate standards. may provide equipment budgets for CON applications. Coordinates purchase and installation of exterior signs as recommended by Corporate Communications. May provide support to hospital management regarding equipment purchases. May perform draftsmen duties, updating as-built drawing information from redlined prints supplied by various department personnel.
