The Communications Coordinator develops and guides communications initiatives across the library, driving awareness of the library to external audiences. Establishes and implements strategies for internal communications based upon input. Contributes to the design of metrics, systems and processes to monitor and track the success of communications efforts. Serves as the communications point person for Library units.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing, or equivalent in education, training, or experience.
Three years’ experience in writing, communications, donor relations, or other related field
Experience managing projects, with the ability to coordinate across departmental lines, and produce products on time
Solid understanding of content development and management across multiple channels and platforms
Ability to learn and articulate the Library brand and write clear, impactful and persuasive content
Must be able to convey a positive public image with a professional attitude
Sound judgment with the ability to handle confidential information and use discretion
Demonstrated ability to identify emerging communications opportunities and address them through a balanced and comprehensive use of many communications channels and venues
Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external partners
Proven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize daily tasks without losing sight of longer-term projects
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and content management systems
Experience working in a higher education or library setting
Proficiency with HTML
