The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of Public Relations.
The successful candidate will teach Public Relations principles, writing, case studies, campaigns and other courses in the core curriculum; engage in scholarly research, presentations, publications, and professional development activities; advise and mentor undergraduate students; participate in departmental activities; advise student organizations; participate in curriculum development and college/university/ department activities, and oversee our Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter.
This position is a 9-month, tenure-track position.
The position will begin August 2017.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is one of six departments in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. It offers a Bachelor of Science degree with concentrations in multimedia journalism, mass media production, and public relations, which are accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). The Department has approximately 550 majors, a 10,000 watts radio station (WNAA 90.1 FM/HD), high definition broadcast television studio, and the student newspaper, The Register. Candidates for the tenure-track Assistant Professor must hold a Ph.D. in communications/media/journalism/public relations from an accredited institution at the time of the anticipated appointment date.
The successful candidate must have professional experience in public relations, journalism, or a related field; university-level teaching experience; evidence of communication-related scholarship and/or creative activity.
